You've checked out a WWCC laptop--now what?
The checked out laptop has been returned to a fresh, "out of the box" state which means you will need to set preferences before using the computer.
PLEASE NOTE:
The images below may not be exact replicas, however, the process is still the same.
This guide assumes you have internet access.
Here are the steps to follow to prepare the checked out WWCC laptop:
Turn on the computer
- If United States is highlighted, click Yes
Keyboard layout box opens
- Click on US and Yes
Second Keyboard layout box opens
- Click on Skip if not needed
Let's connect you to a network
- Click on Next
Scroll down to WWCC-WIFI
- As a student, please be sure to choose WWCC-WIFI
- Not WWCC-Guest
Box for credentials appears
Please enter your NetID User Name and the long, at-least-14-character, password.
- These are the same credentials used to access your student email.
- WWCC-WIFI Continue Connecting Box opens
- Click Connect
- WWCC-WIFI, Connected, secured box opens
- Click on Next
Checking for updates window opens
- Please be patient
- Computer may restart
License Agreement window opens
- click on Accept
Let's name your device window opens
- Please, click on Skip for now
- Please leave the name your device BLANK
How would you like to set up this device window opens
- Select Set up for work or school; then, click Next
Let's set things up for your work or school
- Click on Sign-in options
Click on Domain join instead
- It's NOT necessary to use an online account
Who's going to use this device?
- Enter your name
- It's NOT necessary to use an online account
- Click on Next
Super Important Password Information:
Please, please create a password you will remember.
WWCC Technology Help Desk is NOT able to reset the password for students to log into checked out laptops. All of your hard work would be lost.

Now add security questions
- Three questions will need to be chosen
- It's OK to use the same answer for all questions
- It's NOT necessary to use an online account
Want to use your face to sign in...box opens
- Skip for now
Choose privacy settings for your device
- Recommended to Agree and click next for all settings
Getting things ready box opens
- May update first
- Please wait patiently
After everything is ready and updated
- Restart the computer
And your adventure begins!
