IT-Tips-and-Tricks

Need a message to stand out?

What if you have an important message for the team, one that will probably need to be stickied or at least highlighted to make sure it stands out? Use rich text to format this message exactly how you want.

Start by selecting the rich text icon, letter A with a pen, to reveal the toolbar. This allows you to change font color and size, bold or italicize, create bulleted and numbered lists, and more.

Hide Notification Preview

If you find message preview to be annoying or distracting in Teams (or just want to avoid everyone around seeing your messages pop up), you can disable this. Just select your profile picture, select Settings, and go to Notifications. Here you will see an option that says Show message preview, toggle this feature off. This will only turn off the message preview being received, but you will still be notified a new message was received.

Bonus Tip

Need to step away from your station for a break to stretch your legs or go out to lunch, and would like to inform individuals when you might return? Why not set a "status" message? Start by clicking on your profile image at the top-right corner and select Set status message, type your message, and check the box Show when people message me

When you no longer need this message to be displayed, return to the same setting, and uncheck the box and select done to remove it.
